New ENTRi Handbook launched!
The new version of the ‘In Control’ handbook by Europe’s New Training Initiative for Civilian Crisis Management (ENTRi) includes a foreword by Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission and features updates from over 30 subject matter experts. The handbook includes updated advice on health, safety and security, such as the Zika virus, Viral hemorrhagic fevers, cybercrime, UAVs, mine hazards and newly created symbols ‘Icons’ are available in the annex, to assist practitioners in expressing themselves in foreign-speaking environments. There is also new content on refugees, IDPs and stateless persons, spatial information sharing and communications, gender, mediation, diplomacy and more.
The first versions in French, Arabic and Portuguese of the Handbook are now also available.
The handbook has been designed to accompany civilian experts on their way through crisis management missions and provides a general overview of the institutional landscape of crisis management as well as relevant concepts. The handbook also contains practical information on a variety of issues that are common to working in a mission. From dealing with health and security challenges to technical information on radio operation, map reading, and four-wheel driving – the ENTRi handbook is a valuable companion.
