Bridging Civilian and Military Efforts in Peacebuilding
In contemporary conflict regions, civilian and military peacebuilding actors often operate simultaneously in the same space but pursue different and sometimes contradictory objectives. The complicated legacy of many recent multidimensional peace operations challenges the conceptual and normative frameworks that underpin multilateral missions. This course examines the normative, operational, and cultural differences between military and civilian peacebuilding actors and explores approaches to collaboration – drawing on expert inputs, thematic discussions, and case studies.
This course is offered by swisspeace in collaboration with the Swiss Armed Forces International Command.
